Asia de Cuba

Check out some photos I shot a while back for Draft Magazine of some yummy beef-infused food at Asia de Cuba restaurant inthe Clift Hotel in  San Francisco.  This dish is Banana Rock Shrimp Mu Shu Wraps, which is made with Kirin beer. I had the pleasure of eating this dish after I took the photos (so lucky...) and I have to say - I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK FOR MORE (hint hint)!!  If you've never eaten Mu Shu Wraps, basically there are little pancakes (like tortillas) that you stuff with sauce and filling (in this case, the shrimp with veggies mix on the side.  It was amazing.... super flavorful and sweet with a little spice and saltiness, the corn gave it an extra sweetness that was just to die for... Friday Photo Tip #5 Quantity = Quality

Ever wonder why it seems like you can't ever get a good shot? ...You go on vacation or out with your friends and take a bunch of pictures, but none of them look that great?  Well, this week's tip is meant to dispell the old adage "Quality, Not Quantity".

Quantity = Quality

If you are a person who really cares about the photos you take (this obviously does not apply to everyone), one must remember that no one can take perfect shots every time.  It's true - in fact many professionals take hundreds of frames, only to have them be  narrowed down to a small handful of final, great shots. Sadly in this case, quality is the result of quantity.  SHOOT ALOT - believe me, you will thank me later. So in order catch that perfect look, smile, angle, color, etc... shoot more!!  At the end of the day, it's better to have more images to choose from than less - it's the digital age, you can always go back and delete the bad ones.  Of course this doesn't mean you should snap away carelessly at anything and hope for the best - definitely remain focused with both hands on your camera... Check out the image below - I made a contact sheet for a photoshoot I had - I shot over 200 frames and narrowed it down to about 25 final shots. Many of the shots look the same but there are certain nuances about each frame that made it a yay or nay - it's really the smallest detail that will make or break a winning shot.
