Project DOG by Kira Stackhouse | SF Bay Area Best Pet PhotographerProject DOG is a grassroots movement to celebrate dogs and promote responsible dog ownership through a creative, modern dog photography project. The quest is simple. To find and photograph all 170 AKC recognized dog breeds and their rescue dog counterparts. What exactly does this mean? …For every breed photographed, a rescued dog of the same breed was given the same royal photographic treatment. The result? An awesome book and new dog social networking/resource website. The American Kennel Club (AKC) is not affiliated with nor endorses this project. I started Project DOG in April 2010 as a creative book/dog lover project. The official Project DOG website, Facebook and Twitter accounts all began in late July 2010 and since then, I received over 4,000 individual submissions from around the country with dogs representing more than 450 different rescue organizations in 44 US states and 20 countries. I quit my full-time job in June of 2011, and that summer I photographed 300+ dogs all over the Bay Area and I was able to raise $24,099 with the help of Kickstarter to help bring my dream a reality. The full-color, hardcover book was self-published in December 2011. visit Project DOG online
