Random photos from my trip to PA…

I finally got around to working on some of the photos I took when I went back east for Mother's Day... a month later! I started my trip off in NYC for another surprise visit. I used to be a studio assistant for this amazing artist, Carol Hepper, when I was in college and she had a solo exhibition at the Galeria Ramis Barquet in Chelsea. Carol's work is very interesting and she combines alot of natural materials with man made materials, challenging the viewer to question various issues such as chaos, existence, identity and sexuality. Her work is very colorful and has a really nice sense of balance and symmetry. The photo to the right is three of my friends looking at some art. A bunch of my friends really came out of the woodwork to see me -- old and newer friends -- it was so awesome, and even MORE awesome that they ALL got along!! The weather in New York was to die for.... balmy and warm and just perfect. It really made me miss the east coast summers and walking around outside with no jacket... cos we all know it's hoodies all year round here in San Francisco!! Here is a photo of my 16-year old sister Marta (she is wearing blue contacts)... Next is a photo of Tiger, our neighbor's cat. He stops by to visit my Mom and hang out on the back patio. Poor thing is outside all year round... He's a really nice cat... I remember when they first got him and he was the tiniest little furball! He looks like a thinner and more fit version of my boy Toby and our old cat Marlene. Gotta love the tabby's! Below I have a photo of some candles on the dining room table. It's my wannabe version of a Crate&Barrel catalog shot... Next is a shot of a plumeria plant. I've never seen one of these before ... cool, eh! Something cool about plumeria's that I didn't know is that when the flower is in bloom, they do not produce nectar! Moths actually pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower while they search for the nectar (which isn't there). Overall my trip was fun and super jam packed. Somehow the very short trip managed to recharge my little east coast batteries even though I came out of it 10x's more exhausted!
