Viya Home at Odegard San Francisco
Last week I had a great opportunity to photograph the Viya Home reception at the Odegard showroom at the San Francisco Design Center for California Home + Design. Designer Vikram Goyal's collection includes sculptures, furniture and accessories, all stunning and made from brass and inspired by modern art and nature. These pieces come from India and fit perfectly into the Stephanie Odegard showroom - the bright shiny gold pieces complimenting the rich earthy palette of the Odegard carpets on the floor and hanging on the walls.
First, here is a photo of Stephanie Odegard (L) and Vikram Goyal (R). I love shooting events because I usually end up meeting interesting people who tell me things I didn't know before. I ended up talking to some nice people about the event and they gave me some background about the showroom we were in and the incredible woman behind it all. Stephanie Odegard is a true pioneer in the design world. She played an instrumental and trend setting role in bringing designs inspired by her travels to Nepal and Tibet to the western world in the 80s as well as setting the bar for social responsibility of handcrafted production - completely free of child labor. ...Wow, suddenly this event became even cooler.
Here are the Viya Home pieces. They are available in a number of different finishes.
What's a great event without great food? Here are some yummy Indian sweets...
The reception was catered by Dosa, a south Indian restaurant in the Mission.
Some potato croquettes:
I had to take a shot of the water table because it was just so pretty.
