Rescue Me: Muttville Dogs 2/9
Today was a Muttville day! I headed over this morning to take photos of adoptable dogs and today was amazing. I always have a good time when I'm there but today I was extra excited for a few reasons...
- I found my white shoot-through umbrella. I've been shooting studio portraits for the past few months, and at some point I lost my white umbrella. I had been using my silver reflective umbrella instead, and the photos just weren't as good (the shadows were very dark and the lighting is a bit harsher). So today I was totally pumped to use my umbrella and work some magic!
- MANUAL flash settings. I've been a bit obsessed with lighting these days (recently ordered a set of monolight strobes and modifiers, yay!). For years I used to be anti off-camera lighting, and would righteously swear by "available/natural" light. I have been wrong all of these years and now I am catching up to speed. I do still shoot with natural/available light, however I have absolutely no qualms about using additional light sources if needed. And I'm really excited to become a master at this new craft. So today I used manual flash settings instead of the default ETTL. Pretty exciting (or not, lol) and a step in the right direction!
- 3 white mini poodles. These 3 poodles really cracked me up. From a distance they all looked the same... small white mini poodles shaved down... except Lambchop is a curvy thick girl (heavy like a brick), Little Willy would not leave my side, and T-Bone was crackin me up... it's always a tossup with blind dogs - and T-Bone, although he is blind, acts as if he's not... he is very aware of his surroundings! All 3 mini poodles, T-Bone, Little Willy and Lambchop are available for adoption!
- 2 slightly overweight pomeranians. What could be cuter than 2 pudgy puffballs? Umm, not much, the end.
- Rat terrier camera whore. Julie the Rat Terrier was a bit shy when it was her turn to take photos. But that didn't last long... and before we knew it she was rolling around, flashin her whiskers and batting her eyes... a born natural!
