Dear Ellen: One in a Millan
Dear Ellen,
What a week. I've been fracking sick since last week - I swear to the gods I better recover before my trip home next week... not to mention Renegade Craft Fair this weekend in SF! I guess I haven't written in a while. I've been really busy... for better and for worse!
This coming weekend is Renegade Craft Fair, and I'm selling my Scutte stuff. I've been preparing for this craft fair for weeks now and I am really getting down to the wire! Since it's the holiday craft fair I'm trying to do "holiday" colored catnip candy and have plenty of red and green tshirts and neckties to choose from. I've been stitchin like crazy! I hope I can break even, that would be bomb.
It's kind of ironic that Renegade is at the SF Concourse Center, the same place where the SF Green Festival was last year that I was supposed to exhibit at but couldn't because I found out that my booth partner screwed me over and stole my money, never paying the balance of the booth, then going MIA on me. I don't know if I already told you this story, but I got screwed out of hundreds of dollars and it really made me depressed and put me in a financial black hole for the rest of the year. So I'm excited for this Renegade show because I want to blow people out of the water with my Scutte stuff, and I'm proud of Scutte for being accepted, since you have to "apply" to get in! I really want Scutte to have the chance it deserves, and I think I'm ready to take it to the next level!!
Next Wed is the day that I go home to PA to visit the fam. I haven't seen them since June so it'll be awesome, and Harley's coming with me. I bought him a new carrier, the SturdiPet large black Sturdibag. Apparently it's all the rage with Boston Terrier owners in the forums and it's neat because it's a round shape vs. rectangular, so the top collapses down easily to fit under airline seats. I've been training Harley to love his bag since it arrived a few weeks ago. He's getting closer and closer, but he still backs up and out of the bag really fast if he even hears you touch the zipper, lol... hope he cooperates at the airport, I don't want him to be rejected again!! (remember the drama?)
So last weekend was one of the highlights of my LIFE. I meant to write earlier but I've been sick and haven't been online much... anyway, I had a super rare opportunity to meet and interview Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer! It was INSANE, and I got a private 1-on-1 25 minute interview session with him!! This has got to be one of the highlights of my entire life. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about Cesar. I definitely tried to go into the interview with an open mind and heart and by the end of the interview I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and definitely enlightened by his responses to my obsessively thought out questions.
It's hard to explain but let me just say that I get him. I get where he's coming from now, and I definitely think that having this chance to meet him in the flesh and talk to him face to face gave me a unique chance to really see inside and find out what he's really like as a person - something that you can't always take away from watching someone on tv.
Anyway, I will send you a link to the interview once I get it online. Unfortunately it is 1 minute longer than the allowed length for Youtube, so I have to edit it and transcribe it.
Here's a pic of us!!
Things in Project DOG land are great. We've reached almost 300 rescues now and this week we got the first Puli submission!! I'm gonna really ramp it up in the new year!!
Well, hope you're having a better week than me.
Talk to you soon,
Kira
