Detroit Achievement Academy – Contribute now!

...This post is not photography related but it is very near and dear to my heart. My friend Kyle Smitley has taken on the challenge of opening a brand new charter school in the city of Detroit.  That's right, a CHARTER SCHOOL in Detroit. WOW. This isn't just any old school - it's a school that will introduce a new style of experience-based learning to inner city kids in addition to providing them with 3 balanced meals a day, grown from the school garden.  Doesn't it sound too good to be true?  It really is... happening!! So something you may not know about me is that in addition to being a photographer, I am also a graphic and web designer. My contribution to this project is that I had the honor of designing the logo for Detroit Achievement Academy, woo hoo! The impact this school will make on the city of Detroit is HUGE.  The school is set to open this fall however the state of Michigan won't send the $$$ until November... so DAA has started an online campaign to raise funds to cover operational expenses for the first couple of months.
