Jaryn & Brian – (still) Engaged!
My sister Jaryn and my future bro-in-law Brian, came to visit me in sunny foggy San Francisco for Labor Day Weekend! It was a really big deal for me, because besides my Dad, no one in my family as come out to visit me, so I was really excited to take them around and show them why I love San Francisco so much. They lucked out too because the weather was perfect and really unseasonably warm for that week, which was really nice. Here are some of the pics!
This was our Yank Sing stop. (Photo of dumplings from previous entry is from this visit). Dim sum is not a phenomenon in Philadelphia like it is in SF. If you don't know what it is, it's kind of like the equivelant to Spanish Tapas, if you don't know what that is, they are "small plates" of food - so you can order alot of different things. Brian ate 12 Shanghai dumplings, that's how good it is. It's hard to stop eating once you start, especially with food carts passing by your table every 2 seconds... then before you know it, your bill's $200, oops (Yank Sing is not for the weak)!
We made it just in time to catch sunset by the Golden Gate bridge. I wanted to snap an up close and personal shot with the bridge, so we drove like maniacs from the Mission all the way across the GG and up the hill to the Marin Headlands and made it JUST IN TIME, literally running to the top of the hill to catch the sunset. As a matter of fact, when I took this shot it was pretty dark out (many thanks to you Photoshop)!
Here we are at the Muir Woods. This is experimental processing to the photo -- I don't usually go "all out" like this but I think I might start doing it more! Anyway, it was really fun to go to the woods, especially the drive TO the woods. If you haven't done it yet -- Route 1 through Marin is crazy and you're literally driving on an insanely twisty road right on the edge of a cliff. Pretty wild drive for some folks from Pennsylvania (although driving on the Schuykill into Philly can pretty K-R-A-Y too)!
Redwood trees are really cool though, especially seeing them for the first time. I remember my first visit to Muir Woods and I was completely blown away at how huge and tall these trees were... as I've only really been used to east coast average oak and pine... these trees are really worth seeing (and worth saving, as many acres of virgin forest is chopped down every day)!
Lastly, a shot from Napa... we went to Domain Chandon and stopped off by the vineyards on our way out!
