Wildfire Stables
I'm usually too busy to take a day off but I did on Saturday (well, for most of the day). Hav, her friend and I went up to Bodega Bay to go horseback riding. I actually can't remember a day where I didn't work (even a little bit)... so it was nice to not do anything for a few hours and ride around the beach on a horse. I never rode a horse before so I was really excited...!! It's definitely not something I'd normally do - in fact I never rode a horse before (for real), only a pony once or twice when I was a kid at the carnival.
We waited around for a while for the horse trailer to come, and when it finally arrived 4 horses came out and we all started getting on our horses. I got to ride on Nana, the old slow grandma (because I'm inexperienced) but it was cool because she was the biggest horse and I felt like we really had a connection. Apparently Nana's notorious for putting her face in other horses butts so I had to stop her from doing that because she was creeping up on Blondie alot and suddenly stopping and trying to wander off, so I had to pat her butt a bunch to keep going... hahaa. She was pretty fun to ride and was definitely the most vocal out of all the other horses - making her horse sound every few minutes.
I never considered myself a horse person, but I can honestly say that thanks to Nana I'm now closer than I was before. ...Is it too late for me to be a jockey (I'm short enough)?
...Sadly I wasn't allowed to take my camera on board for liability reasons (boo) but I managed to sneak some pics in before and after the ride. 🙂 If you're ever up in Northern California, I highly recommend Wildfire Stables (where we rented the horses) - all of the horses were very well mannered and trained, and they were gentle and easy to ride (especially for beginners). Yee haw!
Here are photos of the other two horses - Teddy and Blondie
Here's a shot of Bodega Bay from the wine bar we went to afterwards...
