Rescue Me: Muttville Dogs
Today I went to visit a few Muttville dogs who need some new mugs. First I went to visit Bongo and Franklin and then Megan. I was immediately struck by how handsome Bongo was, he was not shy at all and let me pick him up and move him around. He definitely has a lot of spunk. Frankie was a little stubborn old man and kept trying to walk right off the chair haha... Megan was a sweet girl, a little shy at first, but opened up after a while. ...She looks more like a Beagle mix to me than a JRT but whatever!
Bongo (aka 867)
Breed Pomeranian mix Gender Male Size Small Neutered Yes Status Available Sweet gentle Bongo almost lost his battle to live when the shelter decided it was time to euthanize him due to his age and condition. We thought differently and are we glad we did. Bongo arrived at his foster home and it was evident this little guy had a tough past; he was literally skin and bones. Through proper care he is doing much better and even putting on some much needed weight. What we can tell you is Bongo does not have a mean bone in his body and when held just presses his body closer. With more love and care Bongo will make the most amazing companion, is that you? adopt Bongo!
Frankie 3 (aka 892)
Breed Dachshund Gender Male Size Small Neutered Yes Status Available We found this sweet senior Dachshund at a local high kill shelter. It seems he was an “owner surrender” and was dropped off with little information, not even a name. He was clearly sad and confused at being discarded and was on his last day when Muttville said “You’re coming with us!” and named him Frankie. He is now getting the much needed dental care and all the love to help this little guy get back on track so he can live out his days in a happy home. He is a bit overweight but he does like to walk so we are confident with care he will bounce back. He is a very easy going dog and will make someone a great companion. adopt Frankie!
Megan (aka Migsy aka 997)
Breed Jack russell mix Gender Female Size Small Status Available Migsy (a.k.a. Megan) was minutes away from euthanasia when the Martinez shelter sounded the last call. Here was a lovely dog whose people had dropped her off because they’re moving and – guess what – she’s too old. The shelter folks said she looked “completely lost, totally in shock at being left behind.” Muttville ran to the rescue and are we glad we did! Migsy’s a dream. This sporty, dainty little miss is great with people, likes dogs, and comes when called. She’s pretty agile – can leap up stairs and trot around – but at the dog park, she prefers to stand quietly by her person and watch the action. Not timid exactly – just reserved. We’re working to help her with some itchiness, which will make her feel even better when resolved, though she doesn’t show that she’s bothered by it. She’s some kind of 24-pound Jack Russell, but she’s unusually calm and likes kids, not very Jackish. So no idea what other breeds might be packed into this lovable, loving sweetie. She doesn’t ask for much – just shelter, food, and somebody to love. adopt Megan!
