Dear Ellen: A GIANT Victory

Dear Ellen, It's been a while, I know. Last week was INSANE in SF - since the GIANTS WON THE WORLD SERIES!!! Where were you for the game? Did you watch it? Do you like baseball? I grew up loving baseball - the Phillies were my team, then I switched to the Mets, then back to the Phillies again. Pete Rose and Daryl Strawberry were my favorites and I was an avid baseball card collector too. Don't you live in LA?  ...Tell me you're not a righteous Dodgers fan?!  I'm all about the underdog. Both the Rangers and the Giants were underdogs - but taking an even deeper look the world series was interesting this year because you could'tve picked two different teams - just looking at them both you knew they were polar opposites.  The rebellious, progressive Giants meet the square "texan" ideology... made me so proud to be from San Francisco!!! Anyway, if you missed the game, I want you to know that you were front and center in my house. I want you to know that I took this pic the second that they won - when the celebration was actually happening - this was not a tv shot repeat. ok? So since this big win, the people of San Francisco have found a new common bond, and the city was alive and glowing orange for days.  They even had a huge mid-day Giants parade through downtown SF (on a Wed), and it was INSANE.  Most businesses allowed a 2+ hour lunchbreak to go to the parade (mine did).  I went over with my coworker and it was total chaos.  Look at this pic... I was only able to take it because I "shared" a crate with a woman - I stepped up onto it thinking it was a step until she pushed me off lol.... there were so many people there pushing and shoving each other to try to get closer to the street... grown men 6'+ pushing and plowing their way through children and small people (umm, ME)... disappointing!! Ugh I took some pics and then immediately got out of that mess, later to find out that some douche bag threatened to spray everyone with mace if they didn't let him through.  That's too much angry testosterone for me, thank you. I hope the Giants continue to win next year.  It was surely a "GIANT" victory for the team, but it also really made a big impact for the entire city of SF.  We haven't really been a "baseball" city before... the way Boston is to the Red Sox or New York is to the Giants.... maybe we will be now. 🙂 Ugh so again, I'm sorry I haven't written in a while.  It's been very stressful lately (i'll tell you about it later), and I've been doing a lot of soul searching to try to figure out what my next "move" will be.  All I have to say is that situations that have double standards are doomed to fail. I hope to figure it all out soon. Otherwise things are great.  I'm teaching myself PHP/MySQL and it's awesome.  If you don't know what that is it's ok, it's just a nerdy computer programming language.  I figure if other people know how to do it, there's no reason why I can't too, and save myself thousands of dollars of computer programming outsourcing in the process.  That's good, right? Project DOG is still rolling along.  Reached 1,100 fans on Facebook which is a huge accomplishment for me - I never thought it would grow this fast, I love it!  Still missing a ton of breeds though, this project is definitely taking longer than expected.  I think it's ok though since people are really starting to get into it! Well hope you had a GREAT weekend, and I'll be talking to you very soon!! Your fur-ever pal, Kira
