Dear Ellen: It's a-MAZE-ing
Dear Ellen,
Another late letter, I know. Let me just say it's been a crazy week, plus my body hasn't been feeling too great since my got my monthly bill if you know what I mean. Ugh!
...So anyway, what's fall without a corn maze? Well, Hav and I had date night in the corn maze in Hayward, CA two weeks ago. We went to G & M Farms in Livermore, CA. It was rated the best corn maze in the Bay Area! So, can you believe that I've NEVER been to a corn maze before? It's true! Yes, I'm from Pennsylvania, and I've been a bunch of haunted houses and had scary ghost experiences, but I've never been to a corn maze.
It was a little scary at first, and I can't imagine going there at night when it's dark and there are scary people jumping out at you... we were the only people there because it was the week after the corn maze opened for the season, and we went on a Tuesday night while it was still light out, LOL.
What I loved most about the corn maze is how "corny" it smelled... felt like you were walking through a forest of corn chowder!! I LOVE corn. It's one of the few things that will totally make me order something if I'm undecided (other items if you're wondering include bacon, broccoli, "white pizza", eggs... lol). One time my aunt on my dad's side (from PA) had a corn-pie party. She baked pie crusts full of corn. I brought my friend Charlie along and it was amazing. Like 20 people in one house scattered in different rooms eating corn pie.
While we were trekking through the maze I realized that I forgot your face at home and was very upset until I remembered that I had a pic of you on my phone from when I did those OldBooth pics... heheheee. Check it out! I took these pics with the Canon G-11, my home away from home camera!! ...Did you know that each stalk of corn only grows 1-2 corn cobs at a time? I didn't know that until I read the corn clues at "checkpoint" areas in the corn maze.
All in all, the corn maze was super fun.... especially since I'm old now and it was empty and quiet. The place is 6 acres big! That's huge!
This past weekend I was completely slammed bad. I had a photoshoot on Sat morning and then went to my friend's husband's memorial service for the rest of the day... then on Sunday I had photoshoots ALL DAY - started my photo journey around 6:30am and didn't get home until 9:30pm. It was fun though and I am super excited about the pics!!
My last photoshoot of the day was with a little baby beagle puppy named Shorty. He is soooo cute, and I have to say I'm not the biggest beagle fan, but he really helped neutralize my stand!! Shorty really impressed me with his mad 12-week old skills - he already knew how to sit, wait, and follow whoever was calling him. I don't think I had Harley under control like that until he was at least 5 months old hahaha.... darn Boston craziness! Guess it's all about the owner at the end of the day. "...do you train your dog, or do you not?" That is the question. Shorty's family does, and I can already tell that he will grow up to be a great dog.
Here's a pic of you and Shorty... he had a great time gnawing at your neck. How frakkin cute is he?!!
Things in Project DOG land are still rolling along. I'm getting ready to pump it up again big before the holidays - I don't want to lose momentum! Things have definitely slowed down a bit - and the "rare" breeds are coming in fewer and farther between, but I know there are dogs out there, it's just a matter of finding them. I have a lot on my plate, but I know I can do it!
As I look at this Dear Ellen title I can't help but sing the old Aerosmith song "Amazing" in my head. Do you remember that song? I used to have the cd single back when those were popular. I'm old. It was really really popular back in my teenage years... as the song says, "Life's a journey, not a destination". I'm posting a link to the YouTube video in case you forgot... it's weird and futuristic... they don't make cool videos like this anymore. I leave you with this:
Well, hope you're having a good week. Mine's just OK. Getting better.
TTYS,
Kira
