Dear Ellen, My Point And I Do Have One

Dear Ellen | San Francisco Pet PhotographerDear Ellen, Guess what?  I'm going to start writing to you on Tuesdays.  I saw on your website that you are trying to achieve world domination so I decided that I'd like to help you out.  I realize that I'm coming in a little late in the game, but whatever, better late than never, right? Who am I?  My name is Kira Stackhouse and I am a San Francisco photographer. I photograph all kinds of things, but my true passion is taking photos of pets, with food and babies a close second and third. Right now I'm working on a dog photo book project and I have given myself the hefty challenge of photographing all 151 AKC recognized dog breeds as well as a rescue dog of each breed.  I don't want to bore you with all the details right now, but basically this project is my contribution towards bringing the worlds of purebred and rescue dog people together.  ...I won't stop til I have a book in hand!  This is the by far the most time consuming project I've ever committed myself to, besides being the best mom I could possibly be to my furchildren (3 cats and dog). I feel like over the years our relationship has stood the test of time... although it's not until now that I'm acting on it, LOL.  When I was 15 or so, I went to the grocery store with my mom.  I saw your book, "My Point And I Do Have One".  I bought the book.  No offense or anything, but your career wasn't really that spectacular yet but for some reason I felt compelled to buy your book anyway (perhaps it was the gay connection?). 15 years later, I still have the damn book.  Somehow it's become one of those things you can't throw out... and today it's sitting on the shelf in my old bedroom, all the way over in Pennsylvania (I live in California now). I don't want to presume I know you already because I don't.  I'm also not some maniacal superfan, I don't watch your show religiously because I work during the day and I don't know anything about your personal life other than that you're "family", you're philanthropic and you like dogs.  I'm pretty sure we have alot in common though and that our similarities transcend surface crap, so these letters won't be too boring or this long going forward.  ...I would be very surprised if I learned you were someone other than a smart, outgoing, kind, open-minded, fair and fun-loving person. So to get world Ellen domination started, I ordered a nice matte 8x10 photo of your face which I picked up today with some other supplies.  I dont know why I bought scissors (or glue for that matter); I could've waited til I got home to use the scissors here but I was too anxious and decided that the $8.99 was worth it (they weren't, sorry).  After I picked up the supplies I went to Cafe Madeleine to cut and paste.  Everyone was staring at me, but I didn't care.  The matboard that I bought to paste your face on was a lot thicker and harder to cut through than I thought and I traced the outline backwards (i wanted blue on the back)... ugh.  I really should have printed more than 1 copy... guess I'll be using regular copy paper next time and saving $5/print. Tonight when I got home I took my first pic of you and my 1-yr old Boston Terrier, Harley: Dear Ellen | San Francisco Pet Photographer Isn't my boy handsome?  He is 1 year old, a very good boy. Well, that's it for now! Puppies and kittens, Signature Kira Stackhouse
