Wildfire Stables

I'm usually too busy to take a day off but I did on Saturday (well, for most of the day).  Hav, her friend and I went up to Bodega Bay to go horseback riding.  I actually can't remember a day where I didn't work (even a little bit)... so it was nice to not do anything for a few hours and ride around the beach on a horse.  I never rode a horse before so I was really excited...!!  It's definitely not something I'd normally do - in fact I never rode a horse before (for real), only a pony once or twice when I was a kid at the carnival. We waited around for a while for the horse trailer to come, and when it finally arrived 4 horses came out and we all started getting on our horses.  I got to ride on Nana, the old slow grandma (because I'm inexperienced) but it was cool because she was the biggest horse and I felt like we really had a connection.  Apparently Nana's notorious for putting her face in other horses butts so I had to stop her from doing that because she was creeping up on Blondie alot and suddenly stopping and trying to wander off, so I had to pat her butt a bunch to keep going... hahaa.  She was pretty fun to ride and was definitely the most vocal out of all the other horses - making her horse sound every few minutes. I never considered myself a horse person, but I can honestly say that thanks to Nana I'm now closer than I was before.  ...Is it too late for me to be a jockey (I'm short enough)? ...Sadly I wasn't allowed to take my camera on board for liability reasons (boo) but I managed to sneak some pics in before and after the ride. 🙂  If you're ever up in Northern California, I highly recommend Wildfire Stables (where we rented the horses) - all of the horses were very well mannered and trained, and they were gentle and easy to ride (especially for beginners).  Yee haw!
