Rebuild Berkeley East Bay Humane Society

As many of you have already heard, The Berkeley East Bay Humane Society suffered a terrible fire last week.  Sadly, 15 cats were victims of the fire and the entire facility has an estimated $500,000 in damage.  In an effort to support this organization, a small group of us have joined forces to create a fundraising campaign to help thee BEBHS raise funds for reconstruction. Ana Poe, owner of Paco Collars has taken the lead on getting companies involved who wish to donate a portion of their sales (or offer a promotion) which will be donated to the BEBHS, and my contribution also involved asking businesses for their support in addition to building a website for the cause.  You can view the website at www.rebuildberkeleyhumane.org.  I thought it would be a good idea to launch a website to conincide with our efforts so that not only the BEBHS could benefit by having a "go-to" place of where to shop, but also businesses would be able to leverage each other and campaign together to help raise money. This past weekend we had an impromptu sidewalk sale outside Paco Collars in Berkeley.  We roughed the wind and managed to raise over $900!! Many other businesses in the Bay Area also pledged to donate 20% of their Saturday sales to the BEBHS as well, and we're waiting on a final donation amount before we announce anything. BEBHS is in dire need of donations - you can make a donation directly to them by CLICKING HERE or if you are a business and want to help out, please email me at kira@rebuildberkeleyhumane.org to have your business listed on the site.   We also have a very generous offer - someone is willing to match a $6,000 donation, and we'd really love to reach this goal, so please consider donating.
