Mi ACLU Estamos Unidos: Day 1, City 2 – Stockton

We headed down to Stockton, CA after our launch event at the 24th St BART in San Francisco.  We were really lucky that there was no traffic... we got there pretty fast, and boy was it freaking hot there!  We ended up going to a flea market and we set up our table, speakers, banners, etc and started petitioning.  I stayed for a while and took some photos, and then hopped in a volunteer's car and went to St. Mary's Church where we planned on petitioning some more. The van came to pick me up at this church. I met the manager of the rectory, and older gentleman in jeans and a buttondown shirt (he looked like a gardener/handyman). I needed a pen, and he offered to give me one, and invited me inside to look at his photos. It was awesome because he was so unassuming, and the next thing I knew he was telling me about the Canon 5D Mark III and Lightroom 4... whoaaa! The van picked me up outside the church and we left for Fresno. I edited photos the whole way in the van to and from our destinations and have been posting them on the Mi ACLU Facebook page... You can view them HERE. Next stop, FRESNO...

  • […] Today launched the first day of the Mi ACLU Estamos Unidos cross-country campaign. (Remember I am the official photographer!).  We kicked off at the 24th and Mission St. BART Station, where we had a busy tabling event, speakers, and ate yummy tamales.  This was a fairly short event – from 9am – 11:30am, when we all packed into the van and started our journey across the US.  Next Stop: STOCKTON.
