Dear Ellen: American Made

Dear Ellen, Happy Tuesday! I swear to the gods this is turning out to be one of the longest weeks ever... it feels like Thursday!! But it's ok, I'm punchin along over here. What's going on with you? I'm sorry I admit I don't get to watch your show that often so I'm out of the loop, mainly because I HAVE TO WORK. ...Those stay at home moms and other people who get to watch you everyday don't know how good they have it.  Seriously, it's hard work being a worker. So last weekend I had doggie photoshoots and here's a photo from my session with Bennie and Ollie from Oakland, the two Eskimo/Papillon mix brothers. These guys were hyper. This is Ollie giving you a sniff. He was very curious about you but Bennie wanted nothing to do with the situation, sorry (you can see his butt there). Project DOG is going REALLY WELL. The end of last week was kind of terrible because my internet was down for 4 days!! The only real internet I had was from my phone which is not saying much.  The highlight of my weekend was finding my childhood heros on Twitter, The Oak Ridge Boys!!  I found the band account first then I found Joe Bonsall's account... You know I'm a big music person... well it all started out when I was about 3 years old and I used to watch the Oak Ridge Boys music videos on CMT and bop around in the living room to their songs.  My mom has photos of me playing my "guitar", an old egg beater I found in the kitchen.... I was a resourceful kid.  Anyway, I loved them so much that my parents took me to my first concert to see them when I was 4 years old.  We were in the first or second row.  He probably doesn't remember me but my mom was writing letters to his tour people telling him about me... I didn't know this but apparently I made a sign that said "I LOVE JOE" and brought it to all the concerts I went to.  I also invited him to my 4 year old bday party and told my entire preschool he was coming.  Joe was my favorite because he used to wear red Converse all stars, and he had a cat tshirt with cats on the front and their tails on the back that I liked.  I also remember being at a concert in Valley Forge, PA where he wore these sunglasses that had windshield wipers on them.  He could turn them on... I have pics!!  I even went to the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Tour one year and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were there!! I think all in all I've probably seen them more than 10 times... I would see them again if they came out here, it's been so long! So here I am now, 25 years later and I still fit into my very first concert tshirt.  I used to wear it as a nightgown... I'm surprised it still fits!! They definitely don't make shirts like that anymore... love it! Anyway back to Project DOG.  Good news in the social media department - I have over 5,000 followers now on Twitter and over 850 on Facebook!  I'm not really sure how that happened but I'm amazed and super happy about it!!  Also, I recounted the submissions last night, and we have finally reached 1,000 dog submissions!  KRAY! I'm takin it week by week now, day by day.  Something exciting is sure to happen... I've literally been dreaming about dogs and Project DOG everyday for the past few weeks, getting very little sleep (about 4 hours) and waking up super excited, paws pumpin for action!! Well I have to go now because I can feel more tangents brewing.  Hope you're off to a great week! Kira
